About the information center
The college’s information center is located at the West Campus located in New Port Richey. Our extended hours of operation coincide with those of other student development departments, 8:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Our telephone numbers are 727-847-2727, 352-796-6726, 352-567-6701 and our toll-free number, 1-877-TRY-PHCC for external callers and (0) for internal callers. The information center is a clearinghouse for information and questions regarding Pasco-Hernando Community College. The three critical areas of responsibility for our staff are customer service, recruitment and retention of students.
Our representatives are well trained in customer service skills. They are accountable to our many callers and trained to know the answer to most of the commonly asked questions regarding PHCC. If a representative does not know the answer, they will either find it or connect the caller with the appropriate contact. In the event that a prospective student requests information related to admissions, the information center is the first place to transfer them. The prospective student’s contact information is stored in a database for the purpose of facilitating meaningful follow-up. Examples of the types of information and services that the information center is accustomed to providing include:
- Information on the hours of operation for all departments including the college stores
- Sending brochures to callers who prefer printed material
- Answering questions on important dates (i.e. registration, drop/add, testing and graduation)
- Instruction on how to obtain transcripts
- Support services on navigating the Web to find general information
- Assisting callers with the use of PHCC remote registration systems, (i.e. WISE and FACTS.org)
- Providing times, dates, and information on special events and extracurricular activities on all campuses
- Transferring calls to the appropriate campus/department
- Following up on a variety of contacts to provide more information and admissions assistance
Mission
The purpose of the information center is to:
- provide a positive experience for both our internal and external clientele by providing accurate information in a timely, courteous and professional manner with one-call resolution;
- provide exceptional service with focus on student recruitment and retention by fulfilling information request for college materials and facilitating follow-up;
- instill confidence and increase efficiency of college information management by answering questions, concerns, and inquiries to alleviate call volume in other offices of the institution;
- maintain college event calendars and other devices for increasing and improving information access;
- serve as a central clearinghouse for receiving, recording, and disseminating information relevant to activities and events on all PHCC campuses.
