Staff-to-Student Mentoring Program
Through a one-on-one relationship with a mentor, the student has an opportunity to learn about campus resources, majors and career-related information, and at the same time, establish a more personal relationship with someone from the college.
Mentors at PHCC are members of the college faculty and staff. They are experienced and knowledgeable about PHCC and are a resource to students. The mentors are available to provide advice, support and guidance to students.
Students, faculty and staff interested in participating in the program should contact multicultural student affairs and equity services for more information.

Jim Greig and Jayeonté Brooks are mentor and mentee for November and December. Jim is the assistant dean of student development at North Campus in Brooksville. He is a PHCC graduate and has been employed at the college for seven years. He never hesitates to credit Bob Bade for mentoring him as a student and Donna Burdzinski, as a professional mentor. In his spare time, Jim enjoys collecting Negro League Baseball memorabilia.
Jayeonté Brooks, a second year PHCC student, graduated from Norland Senior High School (Miami, Fla.). Jayeonté is active in student government, Men of Excellence and Phi Beta Lambda. His career goal is to pursue a degree in civil engineering from a historical Black college or university. Eventually he would like to own a radio station. Student development has labeled Jayeonté the campus mascot for his frequent presence in the department.
This is the second time this award has been issued. “It will be issued monthly starting in January because there are many individuals who are doing an outstanding job,” according to the program coordinator, Imani D. Asukile. Award recipients receive certificates and other tokens of appreciation. Please congratulate these two individuals for their outstanding performance.
