Clubs
Two student organizations are available to students with disabilities and to those who are interested in advocating or supporting a person with a disability. These organizations are dedicated to advocating for the needs of students with disabilities; to serving as a support network for students with disabilities or for any student who simply needs a helping hand or a good listener; and to sponsoring events that help PHCC faculty, staff and students understand more clearly the needs of students with disabilities.
The members of both groups have felt that the organization’s name should reflect a broad range of students and not appear to be restricted to those with disabilities. Consequently, all students are encouraged to participate in PACT and CAST, especially those who may work with persons who have disabilities and those who have family members with disabilities.
PACT
People Accepting Challenges Together (PACT) is a West Campus student organization founded to specifically to address the needs of students with disabilities. It began at the West Campus during the 1992-93 academic year. During that year, the disABLED Students’ Club was instrumental in assisting the PHCC administration with a comprehensive assessment of the needs of students with disabilities at PHCC. The name of the club was changed to People Accepting Challenges Together in the spring of 1994.
PACT meets every Friday at 10 a.m. in Building B Room 122, and offers opportunities for camaraderie and support.

Caring and Strength Together (CAST) is a North Campus student organization founded during the 2000-01 academic year in part as a response to their needs and also as a living memorial to Mr. Michael Miller, the Disabilities Services Specialist who passed away tragically in June of 2000. The name reflects his love for fishing.
CAST meets on every other Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the student activities area during fall and spring terms.
