Volleyball

PHCC is a member of the National Junior College Activities Association (NJCAA) and the Florida Community College Activities Association (FCCAA).

2011 team The volleyball program is admired throughout the nation for its winning tradition. The program has proven itself to be a leading contender for the region championship every year. Through its history, the program has remained successful.

2010 NJCAA Division II ChampionsIn eight seasons at the helm of the PHCC volleyball program, Whitney holds a record of 232-85. Whitney has led the Conquistadors to three Suncoast Conference championships, eight regional tournament appearances, and four NJCAA national tournament appearances, and a National Championship in 2010 as head coach. In eight seasons on staff, Whitney has seen five All-American, six All-Region performers and 33 all-conference players come play as Conquistadors. Whitney was named the District H Volleyball Division I Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2005. In 2005 and 2007, Whitney was named the Suncoast Conference Coach of the Year. In 2006, 2010, and 2011, Whitney was named regional Coach of the Year by the AVCA Two-Year College for the Northeast-Southeast Region. In 2010 and 2011, Whitney was named the District P Volleyball Division II Coach of the Year and in 2010 the Coach of the Tournament at the National Tournament.

Whitney (formerly Zschau) is a graduate of Kansas State University, where she still holds the records for most games played, most double-doubles, and is a top record keeper for games played, double grand/career (kills/digs), and digs. Her outstanding performance at KSU earned a spot on the USA Women’s National Team in 2001. Kim played professionally in Gijon, Spain, Barcelona, Spain, and also for the United States Professional Volleyball League’s Grand Rapid Force. She also plays outdoor on the sand and has competed professionally on the AVP and EVP. Her highest finish on the AVP was a ninth which she has tied three times in Louisville (Ky.) in 2007, Virginia Beach (Va.) in 2010 and Hermosa Beach (Calif.) in 2010.

PHCC has a very competitive schedule playing the top teams throughout the state. Many out-of-state teams also travel to play against our highly respected program. PHCC volleyball also prides itself on graduating its student/athletes on time. Numerous graduates have continued their athletic endeavors at various four-year institutions throughout the nation. Others have also chosen to concentrate solely on their academics as they proceeded toward their degree.

Pasco-Hernando Community College is proud of its entire athletic program and the volleyball program is the crown jewel of that pride.
