Cheerleading
The 2009-2010 academic year marked the return of the PHCC cheer program after a long absence. The program began in 1992 with the hiring of Bobby Bowman as PHCC’s athletic director and head basketball coach. At that time physical education was a requirement towards the Associate of Arts degree and two credits were earned to cheer for PHCC’s basketball team.
The PHCC cheer team is back and they are raising school spirit. Being a member of the Pasco-Hernando Community College cheer team requires a great deal of commitment and dedication. The cheer team promotes school spirit on campus and at all home basketball games.
The 2011-2012 PHCC cheerleading team won the Florida State Cheer and Dance Championship competition in College Level 6 Co-ed. Along with wining their division, the team had the highest applied total score of the entire competition. The team received a total of 82.52 out of a possible 104 points—scoring 9.10 in performance, 9.60 in pyramid, 9.80 in tosses, and 8.90 in formations and transitions all out of a possible 10.
