PHCC is a member of the Florida Community College Activities Association and the Suncoast Conference. The baseball program started in 1992. In just the third year of the program, PHCC finished runner-up in the 1994 FCCAA state tournament.
In 1995, PHCC won the Suncoast Conference and made their second appearance in the state tournament. Their last appearance in the tournament was in 1997. Over 20 players have signed professional contracts and many have gone on to top universities throughout the country.

PHCC has been seeded third in the Region 10 Baseball Tournament that will be held in Morehead City May 13-17. The team will play Surry Community College at 10 am in the eight-team, double-elimination tournament. See tournament bracket for game information.

PHCC’s Matt Fuglesang is this week’s FCSAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Fuglesang, a sophomore from Land O’Lakes, Fla., enjoyed a stellar performance against Central Florida on April 15. He tossed eight scoreless innings and allowed only three hits and one walk while striking out 13. Fuglesang was the winning pitcher in Pasco-Hernando’s 5-0 victory.

PHCC will hold an open tryout for high school seniors (out of area) on Saturday, May 21. Pitchers should report at 9 a.m. and will begin throwing bullpens at 9:30 a.m. All other players should report at 11 a.m. You will need to bring your own equipment to the tryout. The tryout will consist of running the 60 yard dash, defensive evaluation and batting practice. Please contact Assistant Coach Chris Seibert by email at seiberc at phcc dot edu to register for the tryout. There is no fee to attend.
Tryouts for area high school seniors (Pasco and Hernando counties) will be held on Wednesday, May 25 beginning at 4 p.m. Pitchers will throw their bullpens after the batting practice has been completed. PHCC is NJCAA Division II. Baseball scholarships include tuition and books only.
