Information security
Our goal is a more secure network experience for PHCC students and employees, and much of that relies on the information contained in this website. You should be able to find the information you need in the links below. If you have any unanswered questions related to security, feel free to contact helpdesk at phcc dot edu.
Acceptable use policy
Faculty, staff and students should be aware that they are subject to the college’s acceptable use policy whenever using any college technology resources including the network, hardware, software, and peripherals such as printers and scanners. The policy is detailed in Internal Management Memorandum 1-19.
Identity theft
College students are victimized by identity theft more than any other age group. Types of theft include hackers gaining access to personal information from databases, phishing emails or pop-ups which persuade users to disclose personal information, and cases in which personal information was sold to illegitimate organizations.
You can protect your identity by limiting the amount of personal information you disclose and by being aware of various scams. The following link can provide more information about identity theft and how to protect yourself.
Reporting an incident
Whenever reporting a system compromise, defaced website, or some other incident, either to PHCC network support or another organization, please make sure to include the following information:
- Your name and contact information. Those you contact may need to ask you for more information.
- Any applicable time-stamped system log files. Detailed log files are essential for others to understand security problems and compromises.
